Atheists... one term if you will...

RE: Atheists... one term if you will...
A title attributed to beings humans invented when we didn't understand the natural world, when our very early ancestors encountered something that confused them, such as lightning, an eclipse, or a different natural phenomena.

Something kept alive in modern times by people who fear death, who don't understand science, or as a control mechanism by a few over the many.

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

"You did WHAT?  With WHO?  WHERE???"

The word God in and of itself, doesn't bring anything to mind in particular. It's just a word.

JBrentonK on the other hand, immediately makes me think of the word: *yawn*

God.

Tell us what you think about this word.

It's a three-letter word used by people to try to explain what they don't understand.

Because it comforts people to label their insecurities, it gives them a handle and helps them feel more in control.

Quite the optimist, you are.

The same reason other words are words. They're mental tools humans have manufactured to craft a language allowing them to communicate. A common platform we can reach a mutual understanding upon.
These languages can be used to describe things both real and fabricated. For example; no creature known as the Jabbawocky has ever existed but through mixing and matching various concepts we have created a work of fiction then assigned a word to it.

I fail to see the relevance of this to your viewpoint although I'm certain you have something in mind and are simply waiting for the right post to respond to.
Whether it will be interesting remains to be seen.

Is taking a shit emotional?

Well . . . .

I see. So it is not a definition or a discussion on language you want but an emotion I associate the word with?
Perhaps to gain some kind of insight into my viewpoint? Or perhaps to make sure the discussion stays firmly out of the rational?
Whatever the reason I have no objection; caution. I feel caution when I hear the word God. God is a word I associate with vanity and indoctrination. Your next question is why.

Is it possible that there is a creator? Extremely unlikely, verging on impossible but yes. However, that is not the only claim made when one references God, is it? Otherwise everyone who made the claim would be a panthiest and the word God would not be used. No, the claim is specifically "my" creator, "my" God of "my" special book with "my" special rules.
There is no part of that which is not absurd, childish and dangerous.

God: a place in which to externalise one's prejudices and insecurities and still have pretensions to wisdom.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Isn't God something blokes hide behind so they can abuse the innocence of little children without worrying about stupid things like guilt, the law, etc.
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.
