RE: refuting misconceptions:1-women in Islam
Do you actually have any thoughts of your own, or do you just pick and choose from what other sources say?

What I'm saying is that you promised to refute misconceptions about women in Islam, but so far you have primarily posted quotes from your religious text and links to other people's thoughts. You have, from the beginning, tried to control your presentation in order to distribute just the right 'information' to make just the right 'points', but that method has failed to show that we hold misconceptions. When you are asked a direct question, you either ignore it or link to someone else's thoughts.

For the most part, what I am convinced of is that you might live in a very liberal Muslim household and/or society and, therefore, have a very biased perspective about it in general. Plus you are piously religious and drinking deeply of the qur'an flavored Kool-Aid. Not very convincing in my opinion.

Whoever would say that would be wrong. Sleepy Your belief is evidence (not very good evidence, granted).

What people usually mean by 'evidence' is that they want it to be from a credible source (such as an impartial third party, or a scientific study). In an example of what I mean... the Catholic church claims it has done an investigation, and that the number of bishops who engage in pedophilic actions every year is ~1/510. While it's all well and good of them to give statistics... they remain not credible (to most of us), as not only do we have many more parties claiming the victim... but the investigation was headed by the one party most damaged if the statistics are viewed negatively... a party that has shown time and again throughout history that it is more than willing to lie to look good. Sleepy

Indeed, Sae. I would like to add, mo3, that I am not suggesting that you give up or anything. If any of us here hold misconceptions about Islam or the Muslim religion, we would be happy to have those misconceptions corrected. Truth is what we want. Perhaps a change of tactics might help get this back on track.
