If we evolved without intelligence and without fire, we would have average life expectancy of about 25-30 years. We would be cancer free because we would be leopard shit long before we can develop any form of cancer.

Keep in mind the ills of modernity often results from the fact that only with modernity can you outlive your nasty, brutish and short lived ancesters to have an opportunity to me fest such ills. If you think you would rather die half way through your life than face the prospect of confronting the risk that attends the end of along life, there are Windows everywhere you look that you can jump out of.

Don't forget human DNA.

Quote:A company has performed a molecular analysis on popular hot dog sausages, and found that 14 per cent of them were “problematic in some way”. Such sausages included the wrong meats, unhygienic additions — and even traces of human DNA.

Suddenly I don't feel that bad about smoking.

In relation to the OP, I think the emphasis here is on processed meats.

Fresh meat (which our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have lived on) carries a smaller risk and has higher nutritional value.

I'm not surprised by this non-news. There's been awareness that shitty processed foods are unhealthy for some time.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

Most primates don't eat meat naturally (as a staple diet), do they?

But others say that eating meat led to our brain growing.

Frankly, you can overdo that health madness. I'm sure they did some thourough research, but there are certainly limits to what should make headlines in terms of danger mongering.

Heard a doctor on the public radio the other day discussing risk factors for the root cause of the major killers of humanity.

Something like Pareto distribution, where 20% of the factors cause 80% of the problems (cancers, heart disease being the big ones) . From what I remember the top 3 account for that 80%:

1. Smoking
2. Overweight
3. Lack of exercise.

Bacon wasn't on the list. Thank the FSM and His contribution to linguine carbonara!

Negatron.  Grill something and you'l find that it's more carcinogenic than a processed equivalent.  Apparently, eating flesh-ash isn't good for us, despite a few k of familiarity.  If you cut your damned food into bite sized peices you've processed it..if you fucking chew it you've processed it.  Did your fork and butter knife and teeth make it carcinogenic?  No. Our hunter gatherer ancestors would have eaten meat that was stepped on by elephants and ground in with the feces on the rock it sat on when the elephant hit it.....

Pretext-to-market.
