Missionary Activity?

Anyway, back to my main point. What are atheists view of Missionary activity?

By that I mean Christians of faith braving hardships just to express love and fellowship with the less fortunate of the world.

Of all the missionary expereinces I have heard about that my pastor told me, it is such a positive experinece. The Ugandands he ministers to are so grateful to him and the trinkets of western bounty he gives them freely (Starburts, pens, sticky notes, etc.)

Its hard not to think missionaries spread such joy and love to the darkest corners of the world they frequent. Yet in spite of these good deeds atheists seem not to like missionaries only because they have Jesus in their lives.

Do atheists do mission work? Would one brave the darkest jungles and deserts to help anyone?

Some help please.

Need to work on your Poe-manship, m'boy. Weak sauce.

OP, please tell us you're a poe. We'll have a heap more respect for your intellectual capacity.
If you are for real, then folks, this is what happens when you indoctrinate the village idiot.

PS, your stupidity is actually doing our work for us. You got any more friends who can chip in?

I don't like missionaries or whatever they are because they're always insisting that we join their faith when I've already told them NO many many times

I've put a notice outside my door saying "no cold callers please". It seems to have worked. I've not been hassled by JWs or anyone else since.

LOL... I can wholeheartedly assure you - atheists would love nothing more, than seeing some of you people on fire. Clergy in particular.

And btw - do you know what a great argument against gay marriage - for one example - it would make, if a bunch of religious bigots set themselves on fire in protest?... I mean - the gays themselves would probably say: "OMG! We don't want these poor rednecks burning themselves because of us - let's give those vaginas another try, huh guys?."...

The trouble is - you don't have enough faith, determination and courage to actually go through with it, all you can do is whine and moan about how everyone ignores your bronze age ideology. And we can't burn you, because - you know - we're not christians.

Although it seems, that muslims are the new christians and some of them are quite fond of setting people on fire, so watch out...

I just wrote it in a bit of paper and sellotaped it under the door bell!

Can't speak for everyone else but I see them as going out and spreading their infection. I see religious belief as a parasitic meme that takes over the host's mind and changes its behaviour to spread to other potential hosts.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme

Quote:A meme (/ˈmiːm/ meem)[1] is "an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture".[2] A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate, and respond to selective pressures.[3]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavior-a...arasitoids

Quote:Some parasites and parasitoids cause changes in the behavior of their hosts by directly affecting the hosts' decision-making and behavior control mechanisms. The acquired or modified behaviors assist in parasite transmission, and often result in the host's demise.
