The way I look at it is that there are countless tragedies every day that are much worse than this, and if someone wants to makes themselves a comical example of what happens when you don't use your brain, I think it's okay to point and laugh.  If you worry yourself over every death you hear about, it's going to be a rough life hard to ever get the human race down to a reasonable percentage of the biomass on this planet.

My alternative isn't to cry hysterically or get depressed or anything. My alternative is exactly what I did in this thread, use the situation as an excuse to discuss the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

I like horrible jokes too. I laugh at things that often leave me wondering what kind of sick monster I must be. If you told a hypothetical story about this with the goal joke I would have likely laughed. I just can't find it funny when it's real. It's annoying. I want to reverse time so I can hunt that person down and give them a naggy motherly hour long lecture about how stupid they are for not wearing a seatbelt.

I agree. I never meant to say that it isn't okay to laugh. I just don't personally find it amusing.
