What if Everyone was Atheist?

RE: What if Everyone was Atheist?
You clearly missed my point, and I would not otherwise indulge one who cannot handle simple logic.

However.

I shall try again.

You stated that if there was no religion, everyone would be able to sleep in on Sundays.

That is obviously false. If you think otherwise, you cannot properly reason.

That is from whence my argument was made.

Morality is there but applies to good natured people as far as i can see. If its in your DNA to be a bad natured person , there is no base to stop you from committing misdeeds. One can bring in law but people with no base to decide whats right or wrong will write the law. I cant imagine the outcome of such a world. Reminds me of the movie Equilibrium (2002).

You should come to one of the European countries where atheism is highly prevalent. Your ideas about "most people" are not supported by reality. I think you are just struggling to understand human interaction without your presuppositions about magical forces.

There is also no serious study showing that theists behave "better" than atheists, as far as I'm aware.

I thought you were an atheist anyway? Many Buddhists are.

Let me stop you there. I never said such a thing. How about you go back and reread the previous few posts, before you start insulting my ability to handle logic, Michael Moore.

2. People can sleep in on Sundays

You didn't state this?

That depends who you mean by "you". Your previous response seemed directed at me, since it was posted directly after my post, addressing you.
Now you're quoting the OP. Is the number of people taking part in this thread confusing you? Then perhaps I'll withdraw from the discussion, if that helps you

So I was, and I apologize for having confused you with the original poster.

It's impossible for religion to be gone completely. I'm positive it will survive in one form or another, or even more or less in the shape that it is today. Some people just perceive things this way.

And if it was magically wiped out, it's a bit of a silly question, because then our world would look radically different to begin with. If it faded on its own, we'd move on to other superstitions and other things to kill over. Religion was just an excuse anyway.

I still wouldn't give a shit, I know that much >.>

Vic: I agree, irrational nonsense will continue in one form or another. But the hold it has over people, and society in general, has a lot of potential for decreasing. And I feel very confident that it will, in most secular nations.
