Would you consider the hijab/burqa degrading to women and why?

Plus in the past, you couldn't even DNA test who your father was. So this whole emphasis on these aspects of society I think has a wisdom.

Naturally I don't think showing your hair is immodest but I think there is a wisdom, that, now with time, is becoming more and more manifest to some of us in applying these rules.

Or you can believe your husband and wife will be faithful with 30%-60% cheat rate in US for example. 2-3% of children are believed to product of infidelity.

Studies also show serial monogamy is very hard (not impossible to do). So I would say divine help regarding this matter is welcomed.

Or it could also be the fact that middle eastern countries tend to penalize adultery stronger than other nations (some of which don't penalize it at all).  In the US in most cases it's a small fine, or grounds for divorce.    No European country has criminalized adultery.  You also have honor killings.

My husband and I have a good healthy relationship, and I trust him.  And he trusts me.  Trust is very important in a relationship.

Well mentally its no different from the christian or maybe judaistic views, that women has to submit to men Tongue

But... well i guess if i assume right. Submit to god, have a wife and get on... I guess someone is ok with that .. if god is ok that is Tongue
Well like i am just against burka and niqab, if muslim women want to wear. hijab or other things aslong as it doesnt cover your whole face then i am ok. Its not because of dislike, its purely because of identity reason if you go to a bank or something, you need to have a face to identify with Tongue

But i dont personally mind it, but i am not 100% ok with it, since if the idea of being called a slut or hoe for not following what your parents tell you is awful. But i am sure there are some muslims who simply do it just because of their religion and not parents. But yeah its that authoritative stuff i have a problem with. Which is why i kinda see why some dont like it at all because then it can signal that its ok to use threats and stuff to keep female in line. Since its culture and traditions and religious supremacy that is the reason for this.

In my view, if a culture is bad then its better to have non culture at all.

You realize how idiotic it sounds to suggest Humans should have no culture? That's like saying Humans should live isolated. Where there is society and social interactions, there will be culture.

Remember, you are discussing Middle Eastern cultural BS so it might not make a lot of sense to people outside of that area.

Women were wearing burkas and veils long before the nutty Mohammed supposedly showed up in the early 600s.

Tamar was wearing a burka in Genesis chapter 38 when the scumbag Judah saw her and thought that she was a hooker.  He screwed her and she ended up with twins.  When he found out that Tamar was knocked up he wanted to burn her alive until he learned that he was the one who did it.  He didn't know who she was because she had been dressed in a sack.

Paul preached that Christian women had to wear veils in church.  http://www.thebricktestament.com/epistle...11_04.html.  Paul said that if a woman showed up without her head covered that the guys should seize her and shave her head.

1 Corinthians 11:5-6 (CEB) = "5 Every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered disgraces her head. It is the same thing as having her head shaved. 6 If a woman doesn’t cover her head, then she should have her hair cut off. If it is disgraceful for a woman to have short hair or to be shaved, then she should keep her head covered."

Women are basically mooning God if they pray without covering their noggins.

1 Corinthians 11:13 (CEB) = "13 Judge for yourselves: Is it appropriate for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?"
