I get this terrible feeling of hopelessness when I think I might end up having to choose between Clinton and Trump.  It demonstrates the sad state of our nation.  I truly don't know what I would do in that situation.

The sole reason to vote for Clinton is that her SCOTUS appointments will be less of an asshole than Trump's.    Maybe by not much but still better.

Another version is one in which the general public votes for the city council members.

The city council members vote for the mayors.

The mayors vote for the county commissioners.

The county commissioners vote for the sheriff and the representatives.

The representatives vote for the Governor and the senators.

The Governors vote for the President.

There is absolutely no gerrymandering allowed.
