For fuck's sake, that would be horrible.
Kenny said to know when to fold 'em. I'm with you on that, Kenny.

So when is the cutoff age for not being horrible? And why?

That quote I just heard from Aubrey de Grey is a game changer, I think. It reveals an unexamined bigotry we have. We think it is okay that they die, because they are old. That's actually incredibly bigoted.
You can't really say it's bigoted since everyone is going to have to get old at some point. That's why it concerns all of us though.

That's just my personal take.
Anyone who wants to live that long should definitely go for it.

Why wouldn't you want to live that long?

If there was breakthrough in medical science that stopped the aging process, it wouldn't solve the limited brain capacity that we have.
How would you remember everything after a century or a millennia? You would be a completely different person. You wouldn't be able to remember who you originally were after a while.

I'm not interested in holding on to life at any cost.

You can train your memory. And you'll still remember everything, just not in as much detail. But think about how much you could learn. You could become an expert in a lot of areas at once.
Are we seriously debating right now whether it's a good thing or not not to die?

What do you mean "any cost"? We're talking about living in what would basically be a healthy, fully-functioning body... forever. What's not to want? If you ever get bored, by all means, you can still kill yourself.

Nice essay, I liked it. One thing, though. Don't be so dismissive of A.I. I recommend you read the book Superintelligence by Nick Bostrom.
