Christians: Is Judging Someone Breaking the Rules?
#11
RE: Christians: Is Judging Someone Breaking the Rules?
Judgement is a natural part of thinking, a conclusion about something/someone.

God is a thought dictator. Don't judge. Judge. Don't think that. Do think this. Love me. Feel shame about yourself. Worship me. Don't believe in other gods. Believe in me. Pray to me. I'm reading your mind and if you don't obey, I'll keep you alive after you die just to torture you forever.
I'm really shitty at giving kudos and rep. That's because I would be inconsistent in remembering to do them, and also I don't really want it to show if any favouritism is happening. Even worse would be inconsistencies causing false favouritisms to show. So, fuck it. Just assume that I've given you some good rep and a number of kudos, and everyone should be happy...

That's part of its charm. Any asshole can point to it and say "god says I', right."

Sure?

He said 'almost' and I think that's accurrate. EG The Torah contains support for such action as; Murder of children (for being disobedient.) ,slavery, infanticide, ,incest, cannibalism, human sacrifice and genocide as well as a broad range of positive moral imperatives which may or may not apply to non believers..

Each of the Abrahamic faiths contain so many blatant contadictions that the believer is forced to cherry pick, choosing that which best reflects his society and personal character.

Yes indeed, Pad, and xtians have a built-in contradiction which allows them to choose which parts of the torah they want to follow.

Matthew 5

Quote:17 v“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

followed quickly by....

Quote: 18. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

So, when they want to persecute queers they pronounce the law unfulfilled and when they want to shop at Wal-Mart on Sunday they call it "fulfilled." These people are full of shit.

In regards to the OP, I would say it's about Paul's correction of the church of the times condemnation and divisivness of others.

Actual Rev. is right there's a lot more support of judging others than not. I'm fairly certain in context though he's refereing to blanket judgements or condemnations of others based off of personal bias rather than their fruits.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

The bible is just making the point very clearly, covering the detail rather than making a statement without qualification. Of course judgementalism has many facets as is being uncovered in this conversation.
