Now this is were PC liberal atheists and liberal theists will say "Not all", which is a cop out. Not the point. My well intended friends on the left fail, just like the nuts on the right, to understand that they both have the same characters and heros and are using the same books with the same words to come to completely different conclusions as to justify cruelty or compassion. It isn't a matter of all, it only takes just enough.

But this is the division ALL religions cause, not just Christianity, but every one in our species history. Religion will not go away, certainly not by force or violence. But it must be treated as the poison it is. Just like a volcano, it may be dormant most of the time, but liberals forget, as well intended as they are, that it is still a volcano. It still poisons our species ability to see we are the same species, and that poison doesn't have to be in mass, but just enough.

Well, I ride with the one killing another woman for being an atheist. That's obviously a religious nutjob. But I don't take the ride if a mugging ensued. You don't believe in god, so I mug you? Come on!

I don't get the contradiction. God supposedly hates hell-bound sinners so much that he creates them just to torture them for billions of years without end. This lady is just being "close to god" when she takes out her god given hate of the hell-bound and lack of respect for their rights.

The "sweet", "kind" "christians" that you meet every day hold the same professed hatred of other people that don't believe, they just resist acting upon their beliefs due to their humanistic empathy and fear of societal punishment. You can't really be called a "christian" if you don't agree with god's complete lack of empathy toward those that do not believe or worship him, as it's not "christ-like."

Well, I can sympathise. If I found out someone disagreed with me on a subject, I would pick up the nearest heavy object and beat them to death with it. Then I'd track down all their family and friends, and kill them too. And their pets. And their pets' pets. And I'd wreck their houses. And then I'd dig up all their relatives and try to set fire to them. When that didn't work, I'd make them all into one big pile and dance around on it until I got really tired.

Then I would stop. I'm a reasonable person, after all.

I got a great laugh out of that! But before setting the bodies on fire I would collect the skulls, for use as car hood ornaments, drinking vessels, or maybe display in the garden out front...

Hmm.  Religion is divisive . . . true.  It fosters an "us vs. them" mentality.

But there is also the problem of having one religion being the majority, as xtianity is here in the States.  The majority will oppress the minority.  If you have two conflicting views of somewhat equal numbers, they'll try to kill each other off for decades over who has the right imaginary friend.  (Or in the case of Ireland, Protestants vs. Catholics . . . who worships their imaginary friend the right way!)

It's the loss of power and control here in the US of A that is freaking out the fundies. I'm sure these criminals think they are justified by god and will be exonerated in the courts for protecting god and country from the evil atheists.  It's not going to stop any time soon.
