Something to shake the very foundation of your lack of faith
RE: Something to shake the very foundation of your lack of faith
Science in Greece was a philosophy a religion a meaning of life

look at Socrates and his definition of the world and universe being made up of four elements i.e earth fire water and air

this was turned into a religion , they created temples out of these beliefs

and other Greek philosophers where searching for the meaning of their existence

also also of the things they developed they couldn't practically use

they didnt have experimental or practical chemistry, and a lot of their science of mathematics was intertwined with chemical nature of elements

but the Arabs where already working on trigonometry and astronomy, they were already working on physics and chemistry, they already had a set of systems to use for all of these things, they had developed tools

Jabbay ibn hayyan developed crystallisation , calcination, filtration, distillation amongst other things into a practical field and was doing it and teaching it to others

your right , things went very wrong

lust for power between the different "tribes" was the root of it all

and it still exists today unfortunately i.e Sunni Shia quarrels

but even the Prophet predicted it

he said "The Christians and Jews have broken up into 72 groups and My nation will break up into 73 groups and only 1 will enter Heaven"

they let go of the religion and wanted to do things their way, and hence the result we have today, crazy people under the name of Islam who have missed the whole point of it

I'm sorry, you think that "the arabs" were already working on trigonometry (chemistry, physics, etc) when greek society and thought was flourishing? You think that you're discussing contemporaneous cultures?

Arabs all the science they worked on ALL of it was for the pure sense of science for practical application , why dont you read what i write

the Greeks where interested in one thing alone i.e PURPOSE and their scientific endeavours where RELIGIONS and metaphysical

the Greeks all along where searching for God and a religion and science was a by product of it

go and read the Euclid philosophy go and read the Pythagorean philosophies go and read Aristotle's philosophy go and read Plato's philosophy

their whole purpose was to find meaning for their existence

the Arabs ALREADY answered that Question with Muhammad(PBUH) and Islam and they didnt need any metaphysical answers , now they were developing life, now they were looking to make life better and easier , now they sought knowledge for practical use

and yes trigonometry was needed and used for developing navigation because they were mapping the world as they had MANY trade routes , they had a lot of cartography uses for trigonometry as well as building use as they had developed architecture to build mosques and houses and buildings and hence it was studied and developed

Why should I go and read any of that, all you did was vomit a plagiarised wiki page.  Seems like a bit of a double standard.

Do you understand the question I asked you in my previous post?

i dont "think " what i like, this is fact

and again i have to repeat things over and over again because you lot are deaf

Algebra comes from Al-Jibr
Chemistry comes from Arabic too Arabic al-kīmīā (الكيمياء). and many chemistry terms are Arabic terms in latin like alkali because THAT was where it was developed and first used and taught to the western world later on and hence the westerners just made the terms a little easier on their tounges

so it goes to show who owned those sciences amogst other things

If you wanted to be pedantic, "the arabs" didn't actually do the science themselves.  They farmed that out.

Algebra = Al-Jabr
Chemistry = It is agreed that the word derives from the word alchemy, which is a European one, derived from the Arabic al-kīmīā (الكيمياء)

is that too much for your mind to handle?
