No, we are strong because of the Constitution, there is more than one right in the Bill of Rights. Same stupid logic theists make about the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

Our strength is in our idea of common law and civility and problem solving through a system of checks and balances and no monopoly of power for any parties involved. If all that mattered was being armed, we could be a a theocracy just as well.

Well actually, while I agree our military is strong, even those in it say we are spending far to much on it, we have tons of surplus rotting. If conservatives want to cut spending, they should blame private contractors who want corporate welfare.

Yea, I posted links earlier in this thread, the founders never intended the Second Amendment as a licence to overthrow the government. It was intended to protect from BOTH internal and external threats. Just like theists make the mistake with the 2nd law of thermodynamics, it also has to be taken into account with ALL the laws of thermodynamics.

Our Bill Of Rights cannot be cherry picked and have to be put into a balance in combination with all our rights. Basically the gun worshiper's solution is "IT IS DOOMSDAY  IF I DON'T GET EVERYTHING I WANT EVERY SINGLE TIME".

I believe you would be of the camp that would call anyone who doesn't want to take all guns from the hands of private citizens, but doesn't mind arming cops, whose record for gun safety and restraint every time they see somebody who "looks" like trouble is atrocious and disgusting - honestly, who's the fucking idiot anyway?

If you don't like what's legal in your State, then you need to talk to your State officials. Don't get me wrong, I do understand just how easily inconsistent interstate regulation has been frustrating interstate law enforcement, but this is part of the deal which independent States made when they ratified our Constitution - we are a Union of States, and the States are not provinces of Washington. Washington has already been stepping out of bounds with national speed limits (I'll bet you don't remember that) and pointless, while unfunded mandates. If you want a more centralized government, which I would find hard not to support when I look at Texas, then to keep it honest you should first overhaul the Constitution. Also, be prepared to deal with what happens when the other side gains control of your whole country!
