Far as humanity and empathy for those outside one's tiny world bubble goes, I have experienced how well this works in New York's crowded asshole, and all I can say is it really stinks.
I didn't come here for a stupid gun debate. You're the one who quoted me. Personally I find extremists from both sides to be annoying and petty.

Ah, the elusive middle. Hasn't been doing too well of late in the american political circus, has it? Shame, really.....because the american middle is a pretty solid place to be.

Really? When was the last time our private citizens fought a war or repelled an invading army?
Any strength remaining in this country is because of the principles on which it was founded (which are, quite honestly, better exemplified in some of those "nosy" countries you're deriding), not because our populous is armed. Sadly, that strength you're touting is being gradually whittled away by a government that cares nothing for what the founders envisioned and pays only lip service to the people they are supposed to serve, whether we have guns or not.
BTW - Our government meddles in the affairs of sovereign nations all over the world, every fucking day. That gives their citizens more than enough right to weigh in with opinions on shit that happens here.
