Clergy and theologians love to extol the virtues of poverty...for everyone else. Dangling the Divine Carrot of a gloriously fulfilling afterlife, ensures ease of entry when they bend the multitudes over and fuck them in the ass; metaphorically, of course.

To "choose" poverty you must have access to wealth, if everyone had access to a 1000th of the wealth of the 1% this world would be very different and much nicer.
