I'm a theist. So why can't I bring myself to believe in the religious horseshit?

Infinite regress?

I just thought, it's more accurate to say things are consistent rather than possible. For example, infinite regress would be consistent, if it were true. It may not actually be possible.

An independent timeline to ours, during which our reality was created at some point, would be consistent.

So, have you investigated this "nothing" you're deriding. Perhaps you can pass along a sample. The same one you've been testing would be fine. Please include a detailed description of all the tests you've run so we can attempt to duplicate your results to either refute or confirm your conclusions.

Oh, what's that? You don't have any? You haven't run any tests? You have no fucking idea what you're really talking about?

Color me unsurprised.
Yeah, sure I've tested nothing. Fucking moron

Meaningless bullsh*t. You've never seen "nothing". You've never seen "everything". You're just making sh*t up, or rather - regurgitating nonsensical propaganda, that was forced upon you when you were a child. Of course it seems "logical" to you - that's because you were never taught logic. Just bullsh*t word-games and riddles.

Hey - whatever helps you sleep at night.

Wow. Could you possibly assume anything else about me? You couldn't be more wrong.

I was an atheist from early childhood to about five years ago. I don't regurgitate anything, like you or anyone else. Especially not things pertaining to GOD. I'm not even a member of a church. Why don't you keep making an Ass of yourself, let me know when you're done.

HN, agree 100% with your blunt honesty but sometimes I picture pops as a war hero who has been through too many tours...
Yes, maybe that's exactly what he needs to sleep at night...

This is why forums like this where you can't make out who's on the other side can be a bit rough for some people who just want some reassurance...
Sorry pops ...Maybe this forum isn't for you... We're atheists ... we have no need to sugar coat anything... we know and accept that life can be a little meaningless at times..

Still waiting to hear how you can claim "everything needs a cause/must come from something" without having either infinite regression or arbitrarily violating your own rule.

So far, the arbitrary violation seems to be what is unobservable.

That's why god's so popular. If god could be observed, people would actually start asking questions about it.

LOL. Fine. Then you're just a dumb adult (teenager?), who got brainwashed later than most. Or a crazy/deluded person, who thinks he experienced god. A born-again zealot. Most of your statements are meaningless platitudes, that have been in circulation for Milennia, among gullible, ignorant people, desperate for validation of their irrational beliefs and unwilling, or unable to use scientific methodology.

"Only nothing can come from nothing"? LOLOLOLOL... Seriously - that's just bad poetry and has no bearing on reality. At best - it's a heuristic, a replacement for logic, an approximation of our immediate reality, that we commonly use for the purposes of the small part of the Universe, that we deal with in our everyday existence. This kind of "folksy wisdom" works as far as it goes, but only stupid people would try and apply those principles to the unknown.

I just came up with a good way of describing why God is so popular:

"Out of sight, out of mind."

It's all the answers, in a box you can never look in.
