Theocracy

Theocracy
I've never been this active in political happenings but then again this year seems to involve a plethora of religious debate.

All of the repulicant candidates are trying to appeal to the religious conservatives. However, some are truly all for turning America into a Christain nation (Rubio, Cruz).

It truly worries me. This nation could follow in the foot steps of other theocracies.

The atheist is only 2% of the population(in America) whereas the christain movement on turning this nation into a theocracy is about 27%.

Many of you are more studied on this than I am so I ask you am i correct in thinking this is a problem?
Can they or will they turn this country away from its secular being?
Is my fight against this an honest one?

RE: Theocracy
Ben Carson was leading for a bit, but I'd like to think the country isn't really going to vote in someone running strictly on the platform of christian theocracy.

RE: Theocracy
Who wants to turn this into a theocracy? I don't keep up with politics, but someone posted a video here about Rubio speaking and he very clearly said he doesn't believe in forcing people to believe Christianity, and that atheists should be free to be so.

I don't think anyone who isn't crazy wants to make this a theocracy.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

A Catholic or a Protestant theocracy ??

(and that should be the end of talk on starting a theocracy)

No, I'm pretty sure the vast majority of Republicans do not want to make this a theocracy...

Loga, I don't think this is anything you need to worry about.

RE: Theocracy
I'm not sure what exactly he means by "Christian nation", but like I said, whatever that is it is not the same thing as a theocracy.

A Christian nation is a theocracy by definition.

RE: Theocracy
Mike huckabee and ben Carson certainly do. Rubio seems to think the bible is quite important. Basically anyone who says they're a christian before they're an american, or something like that, basically wants a theocracy. They might not say that word, but if they're trying to put biblical teachings into law, then that's what it leads to. Trust me. there are plenty of people who want this to be an exclusively christian nation.
