Maybe but from what i have seen historiclly and personally the christian mind set is to push their way of thinking on all that they can.  For example did you know that circumsisions are totally unneccessary  but a man named Kellog thought it could stop boys from masterbating and so used his "scientific" authority to convience everyone that it was a good idea.  He also wanted to use hydrochloric acid on the clitoris  to stop girls from doing the same thing.  This was all from his puritanical evangelical ideology.  Today everyone is ashamed of their bodies due to puritanical evangellical ideology that being naked is bad.  And finially women are concerned about their virgintiy even though it makes 0 difference on sex due to the puritanical evengellical patriarchal ideology.  Love ya dear but history says the Christians are not harmless to society.

I never said there haven't been Christians out there who are bad people. But most of us are just normal, decent people. Remember, the comment that you are responding to up top is a reply to Chad, who specifically said "anyone who says they are Christian before American want a Theocracy." Yeah, that's obviously not the case.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Do remember, he thinks papists are tools of the devil though.

No, anything called "rightwingwatch," or the like, IS lol.

And for the record, I don't know these people. I don't keep up with politics and probably won't even be voting. I'm just trying to be objective about what looks like a very unreasonable accusation.

Sorry, darlin'. These fascistic motherfuckers have to be watched...because the so called mainstream media is not doing their job.

RE: Theocracy
I have already seen a few people on here worried about America turning into a theocracy, when quite the opposite trend has been apparent. Polls from Pew and Gallup show that America is getting more and more secular over time. Some former Presidents have outright said that Atheists can't be real Americans. Rubio isn't anywhere near that bad, as far as I have seen.

RE: Theocracy
Fortunatly we are long past the days of torches and pitchforks brought against the non believers. At it is in this country.
Where policy counts however I am wondering how much the religious jeopardise the gains we have made in moving away from a theocracy.

women's rights are among the top concerns as far as reproduction and health care. It seems planed parent hood is under extreme attack even though it is fundamental in helping women all over the country. They focus on the aspect of abortion to get rid of all that the organization does mostly help with contrecptives and health care. This to me appears to be theocracy pushing its way in to control women's sex. This is certainly something that the christians have done for a long time.

Then there is the fight to put God back into schools but only their god. In fact the Freedom from religious foundation goes all over the united states to fight for the separation of church and state. One of the biggest fights is in the public schools where they often find God inserted so as to expose children to their faith with out the parents permission. In the personal arena the christian parent will say it is right to force my child to hear the word of their god even in public school.

Then of course there are the gay rights that have evolved such as marriage and armed service (military).

I see all of these things as a front runner to a theocratic nation. I have read that most religious in this country don't actually want to live by the laws of their holly books (which begs other logical questions but that's for another time). Still I dont think its a hard leap of imagination to go from just a few Christian concessions to full on Christian nation. At the moment at least 27% do want this to be a christian nation the rest of us be damned.

Their platforms are based on religious principles, defunding Planned Parenthood, forbidding abortion, overturning same-sex marriage, the denial of climate change made by numerous senators is made vocal on religious grounds. These people want America to be a theocracy in all but name.

A theocracy would involve much more than just those things though.

A number of fundamentalist churches pray constantly for Jesus to return and to RULE the entire world.  Of course, they're fundies . . .

Not affiliated with any religion 23,8 percent, according to Pew research. I realize that atheists are only a small portion of that, but at least nearly a quarter of the population isn't into the theocracy game in any case. I'm pretty sure, religious moderates don't find it appealing either.

You also have to realize that these republican candidates have to appeal to religion. The religious right is a slam dunk for them, since these voters will hardly vote for any centrist or left of centrist, mainly appealing to secular issues.
