2-big bang theory in the Quran
RE: 2-big bang theory in the Quran
(February 27, 2022 at 8:03 pm)Fake Messiah Wrote: What? Mohammed, or should I say, writers of the Koran, literally copied creation myths and legends from Jews.

writers of the Koran....

I think you already know that two religions having something in common doesn't mean one is plagiarized from the other..?

Besides, the Qur'an explicitly states that the Bible and the Torah are originally God's words. So God reminding us of His words in a new revelation is hardly evidence that the Qur'an is plagiarized.

You just said, just now, that the Qur'an copied existent myths.......? A contemporary of Muhammad could've taken any other existent myth and claimed divine foreknowledge.

They did. It was a pretty common belief and claim at the time. Kindof hard to imagine why anyone would have believed it out of big mos mouth if they didn't believe in that kind of thing to begin with, don't you think?

Who did, precisely ...?

Fake Messiah alluded above to myths and legends that existed before Islam. Recall that Muhammad actively challenged people with the Qur'an, and they had good incentive to respond to his challenge. Given that there were, indeed, myths and legends from the ancients, his contemporaries had enough ammunition to discredit his claims, yet nobody did.

Maybe they simply knew they were wrong, and that he was right.

I know you have the internet. Let wonder lead you to knowledge!

Meanwhile, we can see the disingenuous nature of the previous statement. It's not that you don't realize that many people in every time period at any given place have claimed divine foreknowledge, you just think your guy is the only one who "got it right".

Well, if that's what "getting it right" looks like, your god is an idiot. Up to you. Personally, if I was a god botherer, and I bothered a god that said he would burn people for-fucking-ever for smearing his good name..I'd be a little less hasty. Good luck with that.

And yet, only a small minority of the world population believes Mohammed, and most of those who believe him for the fear of capital punishment are not allowed not to believe him - as if it's all obvious nonsense.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I think you're aware here that you are committing an ad populum? Be that as it may, I wouldn't consider 1,9 billion people to be a small minority.

Numbers aside, the prophet  ﷺ said in an authentic hadith that there were prophets before him whom nobody followed.

Quote: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Nations were displayed before me; one or two prophets would pass by along with a few followers. A prophet would pass by accompanied by nobody. "

That's 5th of the world's population and it's probably smaller because most of those Muslims (who believe him) are not allowed to say that they don't believe him. So it seems that most Muslims don't believe Mohammad because it makes sense but because they will be killed.

This doesn't seem to follow. Just as the existence of doctrines about hell doesn't demonstrate Christians live in fear of it, the existence of a death penalty doesn't necessarily entail that their belief is on account of it. Additionally, though I don't know the extent to which it matters in practical terms, but the death penalty applies to only certain forms of apostasy.

Doesn't necessarily but if it is so believable, as Klor claims, why are people threatened into believing it? All sorts of penalties exists to force people to believe Mohammed. People in Muslim countries are thrown into jail just because of talking or blogging that Islam makes no sense, like Abdel Kareem Nabil or Raif Badawi.
