Could I be a youtuber?

I've found that I really enjoy making videos for you guys. I feel I have a lot to say about all the issues surrounding atheism and religion. Also, you'll have noticed I make stupid videos just for a laugh. Of course, I try to inject humour into my serious videos too to make them more entertaining.

I'm wondering if there was any chance that I could get anywhere with it outside of my circle of friends. So I'm looking for brutally honest opinions here. I'm making the poll private (I can't see who has voted what) and no comments are necessary, unless you want to make them. I'd rather hear the truth and just stick to little vids for you guys than make a fool of myself trying to take it any further.

EDIT: Whoops! It seems like I can see who voted what, maybe because I'm a mod. I'll see if there is a way around this.

Of course, my current videos are a bit of a mess and the production values are zero. So if I could get the energy and expertise, I'd work on making them much more slick and presentable before expecting people to watch them. What I want to know is if the potential is there. So please choose between:

1) I might have some potential for both the serious and the stupid stuff.

2) I might have some potential if I stick to just the serious stuff.

3) I'm probably not very likely to succeed. This could be for whatever reason, such as: (you don't have to state which!)

a) My content isn't interesting/good enough
b) I don't the personality for it
c) My content is redundant compared to the youtubers already out there

I won't take any offense if everyone says I'm not up to the task, I would appreciate the honesty if that is the case. This is probably all pie in the sky, but it's something I could aspire to in time. I wouldn't be aiming for massive success or anything, just a little audience who would be interested in me.

Forget the funny stuff on its own. There's enough clowns already on the net.
But saying something cheeky or clever/funny as part of exposing the critical thinking flaws which theists make can be a powerful ally.

Most of us enjoy watching your vids, but if you want to get known on youtube like EG: darkmatter, then you need to have something different to what anyone else offers.
You know much more than just correcting people's fallacies now. Include all your reasons with examples of why the fallacies are so stupid and wrong. You have a nice way of painting a picture and being brutally to the point at the same time.

I'd give it a go, you've got nothing to lose. We'll all check 'em out... we're on your side.

Of course you have the potential. You're reasonably smart(as far as I can tell) and if you put some time and energy into it, and up your production value(as you said yourself), your audience will grow. Just make sure you love what you do and you really put your best into it.

Take a note from this guy's playbook, for instance. He's one of my favorite youtubers. I say you're better off learning from the best, prior to coming up with something entirely original on your own.

As for the poll options, do whatever you want, but I personally would like to see more serious stuff than strictly shenanigangs. Of course you can bring out your more humorous side every once in a while, but don't overdue it and be sure to make it worth everyone's while.

Also, make sure to make a plan of action and stick to it. Have you thought about what kind of content you would mainly like your channel to have? Have you thought about where you would make the videos, what they'll be about, video editing, and so on? There's no rush, but make sure to look into those things along the way.

It's definitely because you're a mod. I, personally, don't mind it, though. I think the option to make them private is, frankly, kind of pointless.

Absolutely go for it. If you love it, carry on with it and build on it. If it starts turning into a chore, kill it with fire.

I vote option 1. I think your wit serves you well in your serious stuff as much as your silly stuff. You'd just need to come up with a hook that makes you stand out from everybody else out there. Like someone else said, you've got nothing to lose! Also, you've got a ready made fan base to start with (us) which gives you an edge! I say go for it!

1) Production value is key.
2) You have a better chance than most, I'd say, because you have a better than average chance for a video to go viral. Your flaming punch video, even though it's clearly in jest, has a Star Wars Kid quality to it where people will think it's half serious.
3) You have such a compelling personality, Rob. I think you could gain a modest following and make a little coin.
