Afghanistan
What a shithole.

Quote:Billions of Dollars Haven’t Improved Safety or the Economy in Afghanistan

Quote:SIGAR’s report also points out that between October and December 2015, “Afghanistan proved even more dangerous than it was a year ago” and that the Taliban now controls more territory, around 30 percent, than at any time since 2001. A lack of security has “made it almost impossible for many U.S. and even some Afghan officials to get out and manage and inspect U.S.-funded reconstruction projects," the report says.

We'll be stuck there for five generations unless we wise up and cut our losses.

RE: Afghanistan
The Afghans are sitting on literally the mother lode of important rare metals, vital to many new industries, worth hundreds of billions of dollars if not trillions.

Why the fuck are we sending them money ?
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

We need to get the fuck out. Our international efforts can be put to better use elsewhere.

We can't leave Afganistan unless the Taliban guarantees that it will ship us the opium. And if they say that they will and then renege on their promise we will invade Afghanistan again.

Helmand is the world’s most important opium-growing region. Its southern edge flanks the porous border with Pakistan, where the Taliban leadership is based, and the province was the scene of some of the bloodiest fighting between the Taliban and foreign troops before the NATO combat mission ended in 2014.

Ah.... all becomes clear.

At the rate they are bringing it in they are probably using super tankers.

In 2001 there was 189,000 addicts in the US.

Right now there's 4.5 million heroin addicts in the US and one dies about every 30 minutes from it.

In 2001 there was 18,780 acres of opium.

In 2014 there was 553,516 acres of opium.

Afghanistan is the USA's opium farm.  We have no intention of giving it up.

The crooks that run the Afganistan opium trade get rich off of the opium itself and their buddies get rich from selling the cure.  So the more addicts there are the more money they make going and coming.   That's the real reason we invaded Afghanistan.

In Myanmar the government runs the opium trade and prevents the people from ending it.  http://www.csmonitor.com/Photo-Galleries...nd7#965840

Not even sure if British troops are in Afghanistan too either but nonetheless you yanks need to get out. Afghanistan is rich enough to rule themselves (as another user pointed out) but they don't even want to try. They just want aid after aid.
