Yes but they might be. What you're doing is using examples from earth history to suggest that they probably wouldn't be theists. What I'm doing is using examples from what is possible and what isn't, to suggest that they might be, and that it's possible. Using examples from what's possible is more reliable because it's not specific to this or any other planet. Essentially what you're arguing is "this is how things have turned out on earth, therefore it was probably the same on other planets". What I'm saying is "it's possible to believe in god yet not have any beliefs which would hinder scientific pursuit". And that possibility applies to the entire universe, whereas earth history applies to earth, and not necessarily elsewhere.
