Reminds me of what happened in my kindergarten class.  We grew lettuce in a small garden plot.  But when it came time to harvest it, none of the kids would try it.  So the teacher put white sugar on a leaf and rolled it up.  That we ate.

I make a summer dessert with fresh strawberries combined with balsamic vinaigrette and fresh, chopped basil.
Goes surprisingly well together.  A little black pepper doesn't go amiss, either.

Throw in a little crumbled goat cheese....mmmm.
