My views on objective morality
RE: My views on objective morality
(March 7, 2016 at 4:28 pm)robvalue Wrote: So CL, you're saying the bodily autonomy of the rapist is very important, but the autonomy of the child being raped isn't important?

If one or other has to be violated, which should it be?

Also, god invented rape. He could have had a universe where rape was simply impossible, and no one would even think about it. Instead we could have been given the freedom to explore the ~100% of the universe which is deadly to us. Instead we're glued to a rock while god watches rapists and does nothing.

Having free will is an important part of being human. Sometimes that means that someone stronger will hurt someone weaker. That is a very very wrong thing. No one is saying it's right. And the person responsible for it will probably have to deal with the consequences of his actions for all of eternity, unless he has a genuine change of heart.

It is not my belief that God invented rape. It is my belief that God invented sex. And it is my belief that He invented sex to be used in a loving life long relationship for the purpose of bonding and/or procreation. We have the free will to use sex in a way that is good, or in a way that is evil. Much like everything else.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

God, by creating humans who rape, regularly violates the free will of those who are raped. I don't see how free will is even a plausible argument for Christians to use.

Which is, the usually green, backlighted, escape route sign for every christian, regardless of denomination.

Well, eternal life is a very fundamental part of Christian belief.

Fuck your eternity you horrible, horrible person.  Howsabout you, would you make that trade?  Get raped, get syphilis, all part of the price of entry into gods themepark?  Hey, howsabout you go console some rape victims..see how that goes over.

Continue on with your verbal abuse.

Stop weaseling around about "free will".  God could stop things like this without doing -anything- to the "free will" of the perpetrators. Verbal abuse, lol....and what would you call your comments? Kind and Loving™?

Having free will doesn't mean we'll accomplish everything we try to do, per se. Someone can kidnap me and I'll fight back as much as I can, but that doesn't mean I won't succeed in being able to escape. This doesn't mean I don't have free will.

God could have prevented rape by designing humans to mate seasonally and according to pheromonal triggers as many organisms do, while lacking a sex drive outside of these times.

I don't see how that answers my question. Did God create humans who are able to remove the free will of others or not? If so, he, even if by extension, regularly removes free will.

You're going full retard at this point CL.  Free will isn't even an issue, it's a complete non starter, irrelevant in every conceivable way.  I guess you just have to focus on that though, rather than owning up to what we both know is a horrid excuse for a powerful god, rather than owning up to your own rape excusing statements? Would you not prevent rape, with even an ounce of gods supposed ability? Is that not something on your radar...you'd be like "meh....cost of living"..........? Honestly, wtf?

Very true, and I have thought about this myself before too. When I was in my early teen years, I was convinced God made a mistake by designing sex. I thought, if sex didn't exist, neither would rape, abortion, over population, unwanted pregnancies...and even things like parent on child abuse and poverty would probably decrease by a landslide.

Now a days, I can put things into perspective better:

Here I am, one little human person out of an entire universe, occupying it for a tiny fraction of time, and I think I know better than God? The being who created everything and everyone? The being who can see the whole universe all at once, past, present, and future? Does it make any logical sense to think I know better than He does?

...And then of course, logically follows the argument of whether or not the God I believe in actually does exist. I have my reasons for believing He does, and the video on the OP explains a small part of it, but the major part of it is the supernatural experience I had.
