What is our purpose here on earth?

RE: What is our purpose here on earth?
We are all just average sized land mammals, nothing special about us at all. We do though find our own purposes in life, some of us reproduce, some of us don't, some of us do good, some of us don't, some of us change the world for the better, some of us don't. My only purpose in life is to make my family happy and give my kids good memories, that's all I can do.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

We don't have a reason to be here. Feel free to invent one though.

People exist so that they can wonder why they exist.

I don't think our goal should be reproduction. I think, generally speaking, it should be protecting and extending life(both our own and that of others), and then whatever we desire as long as it doesn't conflict with the first principle.

You're still searching for meaning. There is none to be had, though, but the one we make ourselves. The universe isn't there for a reason, and nor are we. We simply are. There is no reason why, at least not in the sense you seem to think there is.

To perpetuate the existence of our species.

Nothing more, nothing less.

That is a purpose of life, not necessarily our purpose.  The use of the possessive pronoun indicates that it may be something unique to the individual, something personal, contrary to 'the purpose' which you stated.
I viewed the OP as asking our purpose as a collective and not individually.

Individually some may believe they have a specific purpose or role to fulfill in life. That to me indicates they feel they have been placed on this earth for that specific reason. I think it would be a bit contradictory to on one hand not believe in a God and on the other believe that individually we have a specific purpose in life, and also maybe a little narcissistic.

I take a rather basic and simplistic view on our purpose here. To me, there is no purpose or meaning other than to make sure our species continues to go on.

The odd thing is, that while we are the same as every other organism in that way, the evolutionary process that has allowed our species moves to the top of the food chain and thus have the greatest opportunity to ensure we continue to thrive, has also provided us with the capability to knowingly end all life at the press of a button.

We don't have a purpose, we are the purpose. The universe is an endlessly creative force that churns out new experiments in existence and being. We are one of those experiments. We will evolve, try some new things, learn some things, and then (in all likelihood) either fade away or do ourselves in. At our best will will find some joy and some love while bumbling our way through a life that is beyond our grasp. At our worst we find that a life beyond our grasp overwhelms, and we fall into despair. Most of us wander around somewhere in the middle and do okay, all things considered.

I agree with Rob, if that's it, (and we're not disagreeing with you) isn't it better if no life existed anywhere in the universe?
Just imagine a universe with zero suffering! Now that is something to strive for.

But life is a byproduct of the machinery of mother nature, so we're all here for the ride.
No God, No fear.
