Some suggestions (movies I've seen recently that I loved):
The Babadook (Horror) What We Do in the Shadows (Comedy) Primer (Sci-Fi) Or some old favorites: The Shawshank Redemption (Drama/Crime) Battle Royale (Japanese Action Thriller) (March 1, 2016 at 4:13 pm)Tiberius Wrote: Some suggestions (movies I've seen recently that I loved): I liked the both on the bottom Babadook was pretty good too and i haven't seen what we do in the shadows or primer yet.

I have to warn you, Primer is an absolute mind fuck. It's a time travel movie that attempts to show time travel with no paradoxes, and it succeeds via an extremely complicated plot.
You will not understand what is going on after watching it once (it's only 77 minutes long), but there are diagrams (yes diagrams) that might help you understand it better afterwards. It also had a budget of $7,000 so don't expect amazing cinematography. (March 1, 2016 at 4:53 pm)Tiberius Wrote: I have to warn you, Primer is an absolute mind fuck. Which is better:
To die with ignorance, or to live with intelligence?
Truth doesn't accommodate to personal opinions.
The choice is yours.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is God and there is man, it's only a matter of who created whom
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The more questions you ask, the more you realize that disagreement is inevitable, and communication of this disagreement, irrelevant.
I know of a good movie it's called Time Lapse,
A group of friends discover that a camera in a recently deceased person's house takes pictures 24 hours in to the future. Which is better:
To die with ignorance, or to live with intelligence?
Truth doesn't accommodate to personal opinions.
The choice is yours.

I'd say we've got a majority, right? We're going to watch Primer then.
Tibs, you're supposed to author the thread, whenever and however, but generally speaking the deadline shouldn't exceed one week from now, even though you can do it earlier than that(for example, if there's some people who've watched it earlier than others and want to start the discussion and you'd like to help them out). At least this is the one guideline we've come up with so far. We can certainly do it differently if anyone's got a better idea. dyresand, As for skypeing, you can certainly ask people if they want to skype with you but I don't think we should make a rule out of it. Some people might not want to skype - they might want to have the discussion in the current format only. |
