Book Reviews

Votes are always 2 months ahead of the actual book reading (so people have time to order it off amazon, etc). Everyone gets a month to read the book, and at the end of the month we discuss it in the forums.

Good format though I'd like to see a single (cohesive?) review come out of each book chosen and posted somewhere as a resource (coz you know what these fundies are like).

RE: Book Reviews
We should have started this earlier in the month. Then we all could have asked for the book for christmas Tongue

Well if we read the book, have the discussion, and someone volunteers to write a review of it, I will gladly place it on my blog for people to read.

RE: Book Reviews
I would be interested. I'm horribly lacking in my atheist reading list.

RE: Book Reviews
Well I already bought Godless by Dan Barker and God: The Failed Hypothesis by Victor Stenger, so I wouldn't be opposed to those two since I already have them. Big Grin

No. Shall we put it to the vote?

RE: Book Reviews
Let's make a list of candidate books and then vote about it (in a poll maybe).

RE: Book Reviews
YES!
I totally agree.
I am getting a book voucher for xmas and I don't know what on earth I went to get yet.
We should definately have an atheist book club!
I saw this really awesome book today.. I can't remember what it was called but it had something to do with the evolution of the moths.

Personally, I can't stand reading most fiction books.. I rather non-fiction.. I adore learning about the world, civilizations and our history... except for maybe some of those war books because they can be a bit depressing Tongue.

I say that we should start this straight away.

Maybe we can all pick some books and then Adrian call pull a name out of the hat to read.

I reckon it would be really awesome if the atheist forum had like its own book or zine..
or perhaps even like an online journal that we all contribute to?

[edit: Actually I like the idea of voting for a book that we want to read.. it is more democratic that way Big Grin]

RE: Book Reviews
Well, some suggestions then:
- The Little Book of Atheist Spirituality by André Comte-Sponville
- Kluge, the haphazard construction of the human mind by Gary Marcus
- Freedom Evolves by Daniel Dennett (a reread for me)
