Book Reviews

RE: Book Reviews
I only have one thing to interject, a vast majority on this forum will not be voting for a flea or creationist book, while CR might want to discuss one of these.

I wouldn't expect you guys to want to read a creationist book, and I don't share your definition of 'flea' Leo, otherwise you could class 'God is not Great' as one of those surely, which by the way, could be one of the books voted on. (I like both the Hitchens brothers). I thought it would be interesting to read an intelligent, witty academic's views of you atheists but I can see that this may not appeal to you guys. Tongue

I'm not sure I wouldn't classify that as such.

But "The Dawkins delusion" and other books like those are fleas for sure.

Even if they are fleas, so what? They're rebuttals. I got the Dawkin's Delusion which I bought after I read the God Delusion. Both interesting books! What would you like to read? Smile

What on earth do you mean by fleas?
It sounds as if you lot don't talk of these books too highly?

Although I am going to run out and buy all the books mentioned as of yet.
Me = total book nerd.. at least I try to be!

A "flea" is a term used to describe a book that is based solely on refuting arguments of a well known book, and is usually aimed directly at the original book, so a "flea" of "The God Delusion" is "The Dawkins Delusion", a flea of "Letter to a Christian Nation" is "Letter to an Atheist".

Thankyou very much!
I did join the Richard Dawkins forum.. but I felt intimated..
and the size and nature of Atheist Forums . org was more suited to me personally. This forum is really nice.. it feels like a community!
I also felt awkward joining a forum named by a person.. does Richard Dawkins think he is the prophet of Atheists or something?
Either way, thanks for the link Adrian.. it will surely keep me reading until the end of day!
Perhaps, I will contribute to the Richard Dawkins forum when I feel more capable and have the time.

Also, Adrian I think you should pick the book today or create the poll! =]

The RDF is a part of the charity organization the Richard Dawkins Foundation, which is dedicated to the advancement of scientific awareness and understanding. Richard is a member on that forum and posts there himself as well.
