Obama Pushes for Opioed Treatment

Ah, the voice of sanity. It sucks that society should have to pay for this but MUCH better than pay to incarcerate them and the crime they inevitably do when they get out since the system brands them in such a way that they have little choice but commit crime to survive when they get out.

Of all our fucked-up, antiquated ways, the so-called justice system is king - especially for victim-less crime like addiction. I wonder how many productive lives have been squashed this way in the name of "justice."

I'm all for treatment of addiction, been through that system twice.

I'm on the fence with the new CDC recommendations for opiate treatment. It may have adverse effects on legitimate doctors practice. Taking a wait and see position.

I know someone at 12 Steppers with a serious back problem. He is staying off alcohol and 'street' drugs, but he freely admits his carefully supplied and monitored prescription for narcotic painkillers has him addicted (again).

It's a hell of a mess for him and others so afflicted.
