It seems God is a feminist since it told men to treat women kindly but never told women to treat men kindly? Surely God knows that yes some men are treated not kindly by women, does he not?
You can read my comment fully, for a change.
The verse is mentioned in it:
( Sura 4 verse 34 ) Men are guardians on women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.
I frankly don't know how you read the Quran, because the book -explicitly- discusses the betrayals of two women to their men, and how that got them thrown in hell:
( Sura 37 10 ) Allah presents an example of those who disbelieved: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous servants but betrayed them, so those prophets did not avail them from Allah at all, and it was said, "Enter the Fire with those who enter."
so, what else?
The Quran is totally fair in terms of male and female equality.

Quote:No, because I identify with a well established and socially accepted definition of feminism. The vast majority of feminists will tell you that feminism is about equality.
In the Middle East, feminism started to spread badly between the girls, when I was in Egypt it was so common to find large subsets of the educated female community, that steps over men and then claim to be "moderate feminists". I think you guys don't understand what feminism is.
I know, you are not them. You might be a nice person, losty. but I hold my view -still- that real feminism is nothing but reverse sexism, and saying otherwise is a matter of lack of understanding for the ideology. I prefer to call you a humanist; aoi-magi's comment..
Quote:Feminism is not a religion, we don't have any holy books. So maybe you have a few books written by a few wack jobs about their personal thoughts on feminism. That means nothing to me. Feminism is not my religion, I don't have a blind faith or even any faith at all in it. So I just don't care what your books say. You see a few radicals in a sea of feminists and choose to label us all based on them.
Yes there is feminist bibles; with "Jesus" being turned into "Nancy"; God into a Goddess (explaining the metaphors; the second sentence is not a joke or a metaphor).
Again, again losty, this video: please watch it..
When I take opinions about what feminism truly is, I prefer to ask the first wave of feminists.
As the world was religious back then, women who wanted to present feminine roles to the world and enter the scene, needed a religion-like ideology that will combat major religions like Christianity, and actually win, bringing feminine positions into the world of religion.

These are not the opinions of "few"; these are the opinions of the creators of feminism, the golden first wave of the movement.
I don't believe you're totally aware what feminism is.
Quote:I could call you a terrorist based on the same logic but I won't because I can see how flawed the logic is.
No, I judged by validating what is written in the books that define the ideology; thus judged feminism of being tyrannical/sexist ideology based on its official definition as it appeared in the visions and eyes, books and definitions of the first golden generation that founded the movement.
You can label me a terrorist -and you have the right to do so- if my book of choice was calling for terrorism.
The distinction is, you don't get to judge the group by the actions of humans belonging to it, but sure and indeed you get to judge a group by the belief it holds and believe in.
Quote:lol that's not what I was showering for. I don't like feet. Eww gross icky icky feet. It's cool that you do. I just don't.
I get the scent thing though. Some people smell so right...
Believe it or not, that fetish is so psychological. it's mainly about "being below the lover's feet", the humiliation and the weakness that it comes with, humility too. It's similiar to the "beauty & the beast" type of thing, the petite tiny girl that controls the big bad wolf. That's the origin of the fetish to me, not the feet itself. Yeah, feet stink in many cases, a woman that unerstands such a fetish gotta take good care of her hygiene..
Since the psychological need hits the nerve, the slight smell and scent of the favorite lover becomes a source of explosion, like the beast chewing others to pieces, raging, and at the slightest advent of the lover, he rushes to the ground, like a cub, like a puppy, smelling her scent off her feet, and work his way to places she might never imagine that he would show interest in, since drinking her whine is enough to get him drunk with love that is hardly replaced.
MysticKnight
Quote:I would define feminism simply as movement or support of the position about winning back women rights. We may all disagree on roles woman play, but I think for example, we can all agree we ought to strive for women rights, and the current state of the world and the past, has been unfair to women and has not given them their due.
It's not just about that.
As I told losty, the history, roots of feminism -discussed by Diana in Feminism LOL channel; check the video above-, are a matter of introducing feminine roles to the religious world, so they carry a religious tone, a strong one too. It's not easy to fight Christianity, you need a stronger religion; a more extreme one too, that for it to break the sword of the Vatican once and for all and shut the door that told the world how women should live, once.
And that package comes, with sentences like "God is more of a woman than a man", and "the Goddess Gaia is real", and "women got it worse than men in the past", and the "rape culture"...etc.
Back in the past, women ruled kingdoms:

Roman Empresses:

Japanese Empresses:

And you forgot the classic story of Prophet Solomon, peace be upon him in the Quran, where he met the Empress of the empire of "Saba'a", the Empress Balqees, here are the verses from the Quran:
Sura 27
( 20 ) And he took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe - or is he among the absent?
( 21 ) I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization."
( 22 ) But the hoopoe stayed not long and said, "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Sheba with certain news.
( 23 ) Indeed, I found [there] a woman ruling them, and she has been given of all things, and she has a great throne.
( 24 ) I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah, and Satan has made their deeds pleasing to them and averted them from [His] way, so they are not guided,
( 25 ) [And] so they do not prostrate to Allah, who brings forth what is hidden within the heavens and the earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare -
( 26 ) Allah - there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Great Throne."
( 27 ) [Solomon] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars.
( 28 ) Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer] they will return."
( 29 ) She said, "O eminent ones, indeed, to me has been delivered a noble letter.
( 30 ) Indeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed, it reads: 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,
( 31 ) Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims].' "
( 32 ) She said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair. I would not decide a matter until you witness [for] me."
( 33 ) They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command."
( 36 ) So when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift.
( 37 ) Return to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased."
( 38 ) [Solomon] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"
( 39 ) A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy."
( 40 ) Said one who had knowledge from the Scripture, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you." And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful - his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever is ungrateful - then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous."
( 41 ) He said, "Disguise for her her throne; we will see whether she will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided."
( 42 ) So when she arrived, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" She said, "[It is] as though it was it." [Solomon said], "And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been Muslims [in submission to Allah].
( 43 ) And that which she was worshipping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people."
( 44 ) She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
Ah..long story. But one fine example; since you were the one who brought the Quran up in the topic..
Quote:Just like we all agree we ought to be good, but disagree on what constitutes goodness, including people within the same faith or religion, the same is true of feminism. There can be dialogue when we are going too far. But for example, the video you posted, I find mostly was spot on. The only thing I disagree due to my Islamic perspective, is that I think drinking intoxicating drinks over all is more harmful then it's benefit.
I'm not interested in discussing objective morality.
As for the video, no, the beer industry is not sexist, here, see this video:
Agreeing with this video, means that you know nothing about marketing, business and advertisement.

Spanking is cool..I agree. If it was mutual it would be awesome too; nothing beats aggressive love. Men deserve to get spanked too.

How did I not see your comment?I missed all of page 6 !
I still claim to posses knowledge that you don't have in terms of the origins of feminism, its definition and what it is.
Don't misunderstand me: many feminists don't get what feminism is all about, just like Christians who never read a word from the bible yet keep holding the cross high.
Never were extremists a caliber that I weigh with, TRS, I didn't forget my own countrymen who get stereotyped against..

It's a way of writing; the sexual intro acted as a kick in topic starter, just like when two people are sitting in a silent room and one coughs before starting to speak.
An erotic decoration to the topic, that's all.
Equating it to sin, is because I think such talk sets me on the route to adultery.
Kinks and fetishes are not forbidden of course, instead I see it as a positive thing between lovers, but unlawful sex is what scares me. My lord detests it, it was never about the kink but it was always about risking to have sex that is not organised by a written contract that puts men responssible for the wife and kids, and the wife responssible for the husband and kids.
As for beating others, I don't share the same view with you, CL, since I see the world as returning actions to their source as legitimate right, you give who gives you, and forgive if you wanted too..But forcing a priest's lifestyle on myself is not something I would say I believe in, turning the other cheek is an option but never a rule of thumb to me.
I turn the other cheek, but not always.
Islam taught me that.
robvalue
And for that, you deserve to called a humanist.
A point that I couldn't explain explicitly as you said.
Not just one gender over the other; indeed rob.
Aoi Magi
This, magi. Exactly.
Kudos; justice for all, not just one gender over the other.

What women lack in physical strength, compensate in other qualities, take the classical example of intelligence agencies using women to infiltrate enemy lines.
Nothing would scare me more than a petite, sexy woman that approaches me out of the blue to introduce me to a pink world, then puts poison in my plate or inject acid in my blood while I'm asleep.
Physical strength is not everything. Soft power is sometimes the only way to break in mountains.
