Why would women want to join a Religion?

Why would women want to join a Religion?
I'm sure at some point this question has been asked before. But it was sparked by another thread. And I've asked myself this multiple times.

Christianity is a misogynistic violent religion - There are numerous passages in the bible telling you how much it sucks to be Female. Do women just ignore that?

(For Christianity we'll include all the major ones, LDS, every kind of Baptist, Catholicism, etc. etc.)

Judaism isn't any better. They take it all the way to gender separation in the synagogues.

Islam is just fucking nuts. Women are just slightly above property. Why the hell would any woman want to be Muslim?

I sincerely do not understand.

Why would anyone who isn't male and part of the dominant ethnicity want to be religious? Better yet, why would anyone want to be religious? Thinking

Your rule basically applies to anyone who isn't male, straight, cisgender and part of the dominant ethnicity (religion promotes tribalism). All those people have reasons to be religious. Mostly indoctrination and tradition, as well as lack of opportunities to become an apostate.

Most people are indoctrinated as young children. I don't remember anyone ever asking me if I wanted to be religious.

I agree with Losty. I doubt anyone who wasn't raised in a religionwould want to join one. It's only because of indoctrination and "tradition" that it continues to exist.

True. But there is no gender difference when it comes to intelligence.

Why didn't more women grow up and say: "Hey, wait a minute, this is bullshit."

Edit: I don't subscribe to the "weaker sex" bs. While we might start out with more muscle, I've met plenty of women in the Army who were just as dangerous as any man.

I think women generally tend to exhibit a stronger need for a community than men. Maybe religion provides that for them. Or maybe it's because women generally tend to focus more on emotions and spirituality than men.

That also seems obvi to me. Religion is more oppressive to women than it is to men. Many religious people instill a very strong sense of guilt in their followers. Everyone should feel guilty just for being born, but women have the extra guilt of being born female. I distinctly recall a day when I was maybe 7 or 8 and our pastor did an entire sermon on how women are naturally manipulative and that's why god commands men to be the leaders of the family and keep their women under their wing. It's to protect them from themselves. To save them from their own sinful nature, and as a father would use discipline to turn his daughter back to god so shall it be between a man and his wife. I will never forget that sermon so long as I live.

Why would women want to subject themselves to religion? Why, of course - for the same reason men do: to fantasize about riding God's 10-inch shlong...

Why does either sex join a religion? The evolutionary psychology is that our flawed perceptions can lead to numbers. Sexism to some degree exists all over the world. There has never been a female Dali Lama either.

Our species stupidly confuses brawn as superior. This gets turned into comic book form in religion. The social structures in turn reflect these gender rolls and end up in religion as well. But our evolution has always depended on both sexes.

Our species has spent most of it's time in scientific ignorance as far as biology. It is also why you can find gay Christians too.

Dangle a utopia carrot to a mass and you can get them to go against their own self interests.

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. You were 7 or 8 and the bullshit bells were already ringing.

Fair enough.
