Unless you managed to write into your local bishop requesting that your baptism be purged, before they removed that provision from canon law (which was in about 2011 after 13,000 Irish people officially left the church in ten months after the site countmeout.org publicised the rule), then yeah you're considered catholic under their rules.

Of course. The pope wouldn't support it himself. They are all dirty little Catholics.

Zero catholic comments.
I guess we know what the response is then.

Looks like Denny Hastert is doing more time (should he live) for munging up the paperwork and lying about paying one of his victims to keep quiet than most all the priests have done for their actual molestations.
(not that Denny shouldn't also do time for actually molesting too)
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

CL hasn't been around in a while. I've no doubt she would tune in on this thread.
Anyone FB her?

Which technically makes me eligible to be elected Pope. Contrary to popular belief, one needn't be a member of the clergy to be elevated to the Chair of St. Peter - all adult male Catholics are eligible. In practical terms, though, it's fairly unlikely.
Still - His Holiness Boru the First has rather a nice ring to it...

Yeah, I'd be interested to hear if this would be enough to stop her giving them money.
If it isn't... what the hell would?
I don't think I have another way of contacting her.

She's around, just hasn't posted in a while.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Yep, I wanted to leave, and tried in 2012, but find I'm now permanently in their records, even though I did not chose to be baptised a Catholic. I was just a few months old.
This is just a way for the church to keep it's numbers up. So when you see there are 1.2 billion Catholics in the world, you gotta realize some portion of those counted actively reject the church, but are never allowed to leave it officially.
