The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

There's definitely some room for compromise though. The university has a code of conduct which students agree to, and some stuff on that code of conduct might not be criminal in nature. I don't mind universities investigating stuff that the police really shouldn't be wasting their time with. |
