Evidence for atheist claims

Every Christian comes along and says their own special interpretation and demonisation is the "correct" one. They can't agree amongst themselves, even among people who don't question all the magical assumptions you have to make for any of it to be credible.

We're supposed to just take the word of... who? The latest Christian? The loudest Christian? How do you guys expect us to take you all seriously? To be fair, some are humble enough to just own their opinion rather than preach "the truth". I prefer those people.

No one offers anything on the way of evidence, and no one can tell me why I should become a Christian even if it was true, except to avoid hell (mugging).

Really? Because I've seen nothing of the sort. At first, I thought some of the others were quick to mock you but that was because I hadn't read any of your other threads. It turns out that they're completely justified in their mockery, not just because of your behaviour on previous threads but because of the way you've treated people in this one, Alasdair for example.

I do believe everybody is free to think and believe what they want to, but I know that you have done a great unjustice towards christianity, by asserting into it wrong theology, wrong concepts and wrong exegesis, basically creating a new christianity, molded to your criteria which you can deliberately attack because it fits the atheism you have.

What can I say, I do recommend to the people of this forum to read Patristics and to leave aside the bunch of prejudices you have. Christianity is not Bible alone, is not creationism, is not "Accept Jesus in your heart and you will get saved", these are missconceptions. These are modern creations and they are the fountain of atheism because of their absurdity. The real christianity stands silent in the history of the first centuries, in the writings of the Fathers, in hesychasm, in asceticism, in the Scriptures guided by Sacred Tradition and so on...

Yeah, the problem there is that people convince themselves of crazy stuff all the time. You know what's really convincing? Evidence. Reason and evidence. Emotional hooks are all well and good but if you can't back them up with reason and evidence, those who invested emotion in an untenable proposition are more likely to react badly towards you when they find out.

I need, as you, evidence for this claim. What is the evidence behind this?

If you went to a car forum and asked for exact details on how an internal combustion engine worked, they're not going to type out the pages and pages of information. They might summarize it then point you to a web site that already has all the details spelled out. Otherwise everyone on every forum would just be reinventing the wheel.
