As long as gullibility is a virtue, religion isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I don' think religion will ever go away no matter what we do or try to do about it. The only thing that will happen is that it will continue to change with the times but it will always be relevant. As I always say religion is the bane of mans existence: it fosters ignorance, dissension, prejudice, etc. Every bad quality of man is inherent in his/hers religious beliefs.

Bibles and Qurans do not belong in the education system. It's like teaching children that stories such as Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White are historical facts.

Well throughout the past, religions pretty much died off because they simply found out on their own that the religion was a waste of time. As of right now, ~1.3 billion people on this planet are some sort of atheist, agnosticist, or non-religious. Religion will soon die off, but it will take a looooooooong time for that to happen, because sooner or later they'll realize that they might not be able to adapt religion with new findings in humanity.

Trust me if; and that is a big if, religion dies off it is not going to be in our lifetime. Fundamentalists for example do not care about facts nor science they take whatever the bible says literally no matter how stupid or insane it may seem. Because they base their entire belief system on faith they do not see the need to provide an explanation for contradictions in their scriptures. Not to mention the large number of zealots not just in Christianity but in Islam as well. Most people who leave one religion usually replace it with another religion and do not necessarily become atheists or agnostics.

Actually, religions died out when someone broke down the city walls and burned the place to the ground, temple and all. You kill off the rulers and priests and make the peasants work for you and you bring in your own priests because (obviously) your old god was too weak to protect you from "our god."

Absolutely right! These twits don't just WANT their silly beliefs to be true, they NEED them to be true! It MUST be true! Consequently, they do not think rationally. They invent all kinds of looney excuses to rationalize any evidence that doesn't jive with their beliefs.
