Anyone got a handle on what constitutes animal magnetism?

No, not Mesmer.
Rex got me thinking about this. I know some people have it. I've been drawn to it. It's not just physical beauty, it's more than than that. I've known women and men that have it that were not that physically attractive.
Is it self confidence, swager, macho (men), style, composure, assertive, attitude, .............? I'm not sure I can put it into words. I just know when it's around.
How would you describe it?

It's an ability to command attention. Probably has a lot to do with body language conveying confidence and being able to speak in a way that reinforces that initial impression. I don't think it's necessarily an 'alpha male', people who are relatively quiet can have it too (I'm thinking Oz from Buffy). That character has it, and it at least partly springs from standing out from the conformist crowd.
Just some thoughts.

It's the thing that makes Daniel Craig and his goofy fucking face still sexy as fuck. It's inherent in the words you use: magnetism. It's the utter belief that someone should be attached to you in some way - via attention or touch - because of some other quality you have: looks, intelligence, etc.

Yep, charisma, which is a combination of looks and attitude and comportment and communication.
I think animal magnetism happens when two people find each other charismatic.

Some people don't have to have looks though. There are some ugly as fuck people who are incredibly charismatic.
