I'm not trying to warn anyone. It wasn't a warning about ignorance but a reality about it. You see, a person can read my posts yet still interpret it in a way it wasn't intended to be interpret. Just because you keep tabs on religious thought doesn't mean you understand it.

Pretty sure... most of us understand what religious thought is because you know we all sort of been there at one point. But the reality of it is ignorance
is dangerous in some cases it really is.

I don't know the state of affairs in America, but I would be more inclined to blame the government for lack of funding.
That and the ignorance the general public have towards mental health.
Possibly many tragedies could be avoided if people picked up symptoms earlier and there was help to be had.

I think there's a pretty thin line between mental illness and religion.
It's basically the difference between "God speaks to me (In some vague indescribable way)"
And "God speaks to me (really, he speaks to me)"
Or "God guides me (in some vague way)" and "God guides me (God really is in control of me sometimes)"

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Yes, I already got that point.

It's the difference between necessary and sufficient. I know that being informed about this or that religion is not sufficient to guarantee understanding it, but I'm wondering how being ignorant of it would help to understand it.

If I want to understand why people believe as they do -- and I do want to understand that -- then it behooves me to know what they believe. If you don't share that interest, great. That's why I wrote "I think" in post #31. I'm old enough to know that not everyone shares my priorities. [Image: 2rfca47.jpg]

It really is hard to separate a mentally ill person with delusions with someone who is deeply religious with delusions.
And i will definitely agree there is a fine line and well.. religion in this case.. really doesn't server a purpose to help someone
if they have mental illnesses on the off chance if i'm wrong which i hope i am it does some good.

Yes, i see your point. Though i've never mention that being ignorant of religion would help to understand it. But if that statement wasn't about me then just ignore my ramblings.

If she is clinically mentally ill then we cannot blame her. I do however blame the assholes who think a bible, and not professional mental help was the cure. I DO blame them for handing her a bible and leaving her off a leash.

All the more reason to be skeptical of religion. This attempt to placate bad claims is what allows the merely delusional think that it is a cure for the really mentally ill. It should have never gotten to this point, but it did because religious people basically handed their delusion to a mentally ill person, instead of getting them proper help.

There can be nothing moral about claiming what is supposed to be a being, that can do something every single time but doesn't. There simply is no logic to claiming "all loving" and "all powerful" when things don't get stopped like this. So the only reasonable conclusion is such a being does not exist. No sane parent in their right mind, while sane, if they could stop it, would not stop it. So there can be absolutely no excuse for an all powerful being, other than it does not exist.

Just explaining my own rationale is all.

I think the difference is simply a matter of numbers.

An intelligent person with a correctly functioning brain can believe religious dogma because that's how humans are wired. They're just believing what so many other people around them believe. They're sane.

But the things they believe are utterly insane. They're not mentally ill, but they are affected  by a social illness. Which is what religion is. A social illness.
A Gemma is forever.
