Monogamous or not.

RE: Monogamous or not.
My husband and I are monogamous, but not out of any real principled commitment to it. We were just talking not long ago having an open relationship. Maybe we will some day.

I lack the energy for anything other than monogamy.

Come to think of it, monogamy requires too much energy as well.
Put me down for sleepy celibacy.

Monogamous. I'm far too guarded to share myself emotionally with most people, let alone physically. I have met maybe 2-3 I'd trust so completely to have a romantic relationship with at all.

Trust issues stemming from self-esteem issues which stem from a disability, with the associated secondary health issues, general frailty, and deformities sure can be fun to live with!

I really admire your strength and positive attitude in dealing with your health issues.   Heart

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I can't remember if this has been mentioned already but...

There's one quite obvious advantage to being monogamous: peace of mind about STDs. You only need one check each, then you're set.

I'm not suggesting this would/should be a deciding factor, it's just a bonus really.

Especially with STDs like gonorrhea evolving to become immune to anti biotics now.

When it comes to STDs I think I've been lucky.  It's a while since I've been tested, but I've been tested 3 times and come away with nothing so far, even after having a lot of unprotected sex and pushing my luck.

I know people who have had all sorts, the worst was probably a man I knew who was seeing several strippers and I think he ended up with something pretty bad.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

You can be non monogamous and still repellent.

Monogamous for 14 years [waits for thunderous applause/pity sighs to die down], ever since the magnificent Ellen made a catastrophic error in my favour.

That's what I said at the end of that post you're quoting from.  Not anything I'm arguing against.
