9% is a long way from 15%

6 points isn't that much. I've also seen him as high as 12%.  A few more Clinton emails and a few more Donald Trump.....well being Donald Trump and he could get those 6 points. The rules for debate say you have to make 15% in 4 national polls. Considering that Republicans are going to defect from Trump, are they going to go to Hillary Clinton, whom they traditionally loath, or a ticket with two former Republican governors on it? I hope he gets to 15%, someone who is a ceo of a marijuana company should make the debates more fun. Johnson only hurts Trump anyway, so hopefully I don't hear any 'a vote for Johnson is a vote for Trump' crap.

I'll be voting for Johnson this year, almost certainly.

Wow, Jill Stein is only at 5%.

That's kinda surprising.

The history of third parties in the US is that they fade as election day nears.  But, far be it for me to destroy your fantasies.  It's your time.  Waste it if you wish.

Meanwhile, the defections continue.

Quote:Meg Whitman joins chorus of Republicans supporting Hillary Clinton

Quote:Meg Whitman, the Hewlett-Packard chief executive who ran unsuccessfully for governor of California in 2010, will back Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, joining other prominent Republicans troubled by Donald Trump's candidacy.
"As a proud Republican, casting my vote for president has usually been a simple matter. This year is different,” Whitman wrote on Facebook. “Donald Trump’s demagoguery has undermined the fabric of our national character.”
Whitman, a major GOP fundraiser whose net worth is about $2 billion, also told the New York Times that she planned to raise money for Clinton.
Whitman has already donated more than $100,000 to anti-Trump efforts, but her decision to actively solicit donations for Clinton is a major blow to Trump's fundraising, which has deeply lagged behind Clinton. Last month, Clinton raised $90 million for her campaign and that of other Democrats, while Trump said he raised a bit more than one-third of that.

Well, I'm a realist, not a fantasist. I don't think my vote will actually help Johnson win the Oval Office. But I do think that not voting for either of these twats 1) comports better with my political sensibilities, 2) sends a message, if it is joined with other third-party votes (of whatever stripe, I don't care, break the 150+year two-party dominance!) and 3) gives the party a better chance at scoring Federal funding.

You keep on voting on your treadmill as you have for decades, and bemoaning the fact that things aren't changing. Maybe one day you'll ask yourself why ... hopefully by then it won't be too late.

Hope so.

When they think Trump will lose anyway.

The think is, they don't say which national polls they are going to use to make that determination in advance. I would presume they will try to find national polls where Johnson is below 15% to disqualify him. The only way he's making it is if he breaks 15% in ALL the reputable national polls. Speaking as someone who is cynical on the matter.

All Johnson needs for federal funding is 5%, and I think he has that nailed. It would also be a record.
