Texas looks to follow UK's example

You know, I can only go by what they send into congress - Louie Gohmert anyone? - and what they elect as governors. I know too few Texans and never have been in that state.

Yeah I know there's a disconnect there somewhere. I mean, I've met plenty of batshit crazy Texans, but not nearly enough to account for Rick Perry.

I'm the only Texan who's posted in this thread right now ... and I had the courstesy to wait for your Brexit vote to finalize before I opined.

Your obvious lack of knowledge regarding our history impugns your opinions. If you don't like that, tough shit. If you step into a conversation ill-equipped to speak intelligently, tu quoque ain't gonna spare you a slap or two. Perhaps you should stick to what you know?

Well, I wouldn't get too contrite, personally. The majority of their active voter base is still pretty backward and dumb, if their officials are any indication.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

We wouldn't be that. Such perception is only that -- perception, fueled by media.

The dominant outlook here is not Statist religion, it's leave me the fuck alone.

Nah, I'm gonna comment on Texan independence whether you like it or not. And it's funny how much it annoys you.

Oh, well that's fucking marvellous. Thanks I guess.

Indirectly, I would say. If I were onlly going by the media, well, there were some nice playmates coming from there.

But, even as a European, it's hard to overlook Louie Gohmert or Rick Perry, or Shrub, for that matter. If one is interested at all in American politics.

I get that - that's what's weird about it. The demographics of Texans I know can't be the same as what's expressed at the polls.

Great! It doesn't annoy me, but it sure gives me wide-open opportunities for potshots.

Of course, you'll cut your jib any way you like, but don't whine when you can't tack into the breeze.

Pity you're not big enough to repay in kind. But on the positive side, I've gotten better measure of you. Hope you feel better for this exchange. Smile
