No, unless convicted, the European laws are clear. You don't name a suspected criminal until they actually are convicted. Entirely different to the US. And it has been that way for the last 20 years at the very least.

You aren't allowed to show their picture also. Unless the police asks for someone helping in identifying some CCTV footage. If you show their picture, you have to black out their eyes.

It's to prevent something like the Paul Britton fuckup with ruining Colin Stagg's life forever.

One passage really struck me as odd:

Could you be more specific, Michael Harthorne? That category ("items contradicting Hawking's claim that God doesn't exist") is extremely broad. Hell, it could even include the Bible the Gideons put in damn near every hotel room they can get away with it.

Of course there are 'love crimes'.  Stealing is always a crime, but suppose you steal medicine to save the life of your desperately ill child?  I doubt very much that people would assume you acted out of anything but love.
