The Republican leadership hates him. The Speaker of the House refuses to endorse him. They even trotted Romney out to launch a blistering attack on him.
If he's elected, he'll be able to get some stuff done, sure. But with a Republican party that largely detests him, and a Democrat party that will almost certainly filibuster the shit out of his inane proposals, I think we'll be seeing more of the same in Congress.
The real danger of a Trump candidacy is on the world stage.

Even if they manage to get on the ballot on every state, they still have to be polling 15% on five national polls in order to make it to the debates. And even if they do that, they still won't get the exposure needed to overcome everything else.
Johnson is on the ballot in all fifty states.

They may hate him, but they'd be salivating at the idea of getting enough conservative justices on SCOTUS. And he'll gladly trot them out. Many of which will sit on the court for years after Trump is voted out, if he's defeated in 2020. At which point defeating citizens united will appear even less likely.

He did an audit of the Clinton Foundation last year and found that very little of its money actually goes to charity work. I think it was something ridiculous like around just 10% of income is used for charity work.
And this is just plain wrong.

Quote:Daniel Borochoff, president and founder of CharityWatch, told us by phone that its analysis of the finances of the Clinton Foundation and its affiliates found that about 89 percent of the foundation budget is spent on programming (or “charity”), higher than the 75 percent considered the industry standard.
Quote:We looked at the consolidated financial statements (see page 4) and calculated that in 2013, 88.3 percent of spending was designated as going toward program services — $196.6 million out of $222.6 million in reported expenses.

Actually, and I hate to be the devil's advocate, one of the people Donald has mooted for the Supreme Court is Andrew Napolitano - who is registered as a Libertarian. There is no guarantee Donald will pick the sort of guy house Republicans want. Andrew is a Libertarian which means socially liberal but fiscaly conservative.
Libertarian choice for SCOTUS doesn't seem so bad to me. I'm subscribed to Ron Paul on YouTube (even though I'm not a Libertarian myself) and I find myself agreeing with his positions more than 50% of the time. I vote Green Party in my country in case you're wondering.

Napolitano is still anti-choice. He was also not included in Trump's list of 11 possible supreme court justices.

If anyone stupidly thinks a Trump presidency will fix things, much less a Trump Supreme Court will fix things, you might as well think North Korea is a bastion of freedom. Trump has demagogued and scapegoated everyone, including Vets and Judges and the free press. The very thing Hitler and Un did/do.
His base are the advocates of turning back the clock on women's and voters rights. His advocates support the same blind loyalty and hyper nationalism of despots like Hitler and Un. Trump is what Orwell warned about with Animal Farm and 1984. Orwell meant those books to be a warning, the GOP and Trump are using them as playbooks.

Orwell would have warned about Hilary too. Hilary voted for the Patriot Act which puts an end to the 4th Amendment. With Hilary you also have endless war for endless peace.
Plus, Hilary supporters are prone to Groupthink. Very scary. Orwell would be just as worried about Hilary.
Andrew, being a Libertarian, is against such vile things as the Patriot Act. Hilary will try and appease Republicans by putting a Republican on SCOTUS. Voting for Hilary isn't guaranteed to put a, shall we say, reasonable person on SCOTUS. And we know Hilary hates civil liberties - she advocated for the Patriot Act after all.
You want for more years of Obama? Okay, that means more whistle-blowers than ever before in jail, more arms deals with Saudi and more bombing of Arab countries. Hilary will certainly go further than Obama. She will expand the pointless wars.

Cecelia, I certainly get the point about SCOTUS appts, which is another reason I'd never vote Trump. But that might be one of the few areas the Republicans would work with him on, I think.

If that's really the case then I'm happy to be corrected. I am skeptical because of the FBI's criminal investigation of Terry McAuliffe, the governor of Virginia and how it relates to the Clinton Foundation. He worked for the Foundation and he now being investigated for corruption by the FBI.
