As to being raped by the 16 year old, it is only rape if she both failed to give consent and believed the sexual act was rape.   It is not rape if she didn't think it was rape afterwards, even if she was passed out and could not give a priori consent.

It looks to me like popular discomfort with the acts trumped actual rule of law.

Everyone under the age of 18 is a minor. And the law is the law. You give kids booze, especially other people's kids (i.e. not your own), you should not be surprised if the authorities get involved.

I didn't say it was. The only thing I'd personally be genuinely concerned about in this whole affair is how she ended up having sex with a 16yo while passed out. All the other stuff is nothing that will, in a few years time, be more than a weird-ass memory for all involved. But feeling the need to demonstrate your vibrator skills or whatever at your teenage daughters bday party seems worthy of some therapy.
