Always something new to learn

RE: Always something new to learn
Hey Kit. Are you being thick headed because you have no say in the matter or because you choose to be like that?

In what way do you consider me thick headed. Only then can I properly address you.

There's a quote by the great Bavarian comedian Karl Valentin that I'm reminded of

"Mögen hätt ich schon wollen, aber dürfen habe ich mich nicht getraut"

roughly translates to

I would indeed have liked to want to, but didn't dare to be allowed to.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Constraint is not my problem, ask anyone.

Yeah, I'm sure you could fly across the sky like a little birdie if you just wanted to.

Kit. It's a simple as this. If I ask you to pick a colour. How will go about determining what colour to "randomly" pick?
Do you have a rng in your head? No. Your subconscious processes does the picking a split second before "you" do.

If you're trying to tell me you have no subconscious or that you are in total control of your subconscious, then you are being pig headed. Fair enough.
I know you're not into woo.

Quote:Free will is the veritable free will to do what one wishes.

Aside from being tautological (your definition is equivalent to 'A square is defined as a thing shaped like a square'), how can you possibly know if your acts are free or constrained? You mentioned having the choice to walk in whatever direction you choose. If you turn left, how 'veritable' is it that this is a choice? For all you know, the expansion event that instantiated the universe caused a chain of events which dictated that, on a particular day and time, you would turn left. The same event chain may have also caused turning left to feel like a free choice, even though it wasn't.

As for 'what one wishes', that's a bit broad, innit? I may wish to be able to digest bronze, or to breathe unassisted in an atmosphere of 90% chlorine with no ill effects.

Try again.

Free will...

It needs to much clarification that I find it a useless concept.

For starters, you're only free to try to do things. Not to actually do them, necessarily.

Also, you have to be able to even think of the thing you want to try to do. So you're limited both mentally and physically. Not you. Not you personally. Someone is. Some guy.

A bunch of stuff is going on. Let's leave it at that. Free will is a red herring.

Free will is having the option to do whatever you are able to do and to try to do anything you want to do.

having the option to do what I'm able to do - sounds a wee bit tautological?
