The "Cultural Context" Excuse

Not necessarily. A formal debate has a proper structure and format, which calls for a specialised arena in a group online environment. There is nothing stopping you from having a formal debate out here, it's just exponentially harder to moderate properly. Otherwise you would have to propse a set of criteria for why some threads - my "what's everyone up to" thread, for example - are not debates.

However, if pedantic hair-splitting is the only little victory you can hope for, who am I to deny the baby his rattle?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Uh, I wasn't the one who took issue with the use word of 'debate'.

Great. Then there's no argument. Also a synonym for debate.

Look, don't address me if you don't want me to respond.

The point is, referring to this forum (Christianity) as a debate forum is in no way inaccurate, especially as it relates to atheist vs theist discussions, yet for some reason Stimbo took issue with  that. So who really is the pedant?

I thought this was settled. Why are you keeping it going? You realise you're literally the only person here who cares, don't you?

Respond all you like.

I'm just floating around correcting misinformation people put out there. It's for the benefit of lurkers.
