Wanna have the physics, North Carolina? Better respect trans people...
Didn't Jesus teach that we are supposed to put our brother before our selves? That we should be selfless? That we should suffer and sacrifice in order to lift others up? "It's icky, and I shouldn't have to feel icky for 3 minutes" isn't a very "Christian" position on the subject, IMO.

Isn't suffering a few moments of personal discomfort worth helping to ease the emotional and psychological torture these people endure on a daily basis? ESPECIALLY considering the prevalence of suicide among the transgendered community? Isn't that the very LEAST we can do for them as empathetic human beings? Isn't it the least you can do as CHRISTIANS?

I waved at a trans-phycisist once and she waved back. At least she said she was a phycisist.

Gender and sex are not the same thing.
OK. I'm changing my view on a third restroom from "gender neutral" to "unisex". Sex is the defining factor in the bathroom issue.

What we can do for them is to love them as God loves them and as we love ourselves. Transgenders should do the same toward those who are different than them also. The fix isn't isn't allowing transgenders to use the bathroom of their choice, but in creating a situation in which they accepted in society as much as anyone else. Restrooms were never set up as separate due to gender identity, but as to sex. Believe it or not, that is very important to many people and always has been.

Fine then, I take it you'll be in favour of separate bathrooms, schools, beaches, shops, town &c for black people. After all, ghettoising minorities is, per your definition in this thread, only standing up for ALL people's rights.

I see Lek is not willing to answer my question. I wonder why?

Says who? Are you a therapist?

Quote:but in creating a situation in which they accepted in society as much as anyone else.

Correct. By letting them use the bathroom of their choice. As Tazzy pointed out to you, Separate but Equal is NOT equal.

Quote:Restrooms were never set up as separate due to gender identity, but as to sex.

So we shouldn't make changes in our POV based on the receiving of new information? How very predictably Christian of you. Where do you think they have been using the toilet this whole time Lek? When was the last time you saw a woman in the men's room?

Quote:Believe it or not, that is very important to many people and always has been.

And sometimes a shift in thinking is necessary to support what is morally correct.

This is based on an implicit premise of "God exists" which is an unsound premise. Why should 'we' listen when 'we' meaning humanity also includes atheists?

I didn't answer it because I think it's a silly question. Maybe we should have separate facilities for blonds and readheads or for tall people and short people. But I'll still answer - no, I don't think we should segregate by race, but we shouldn't allow a black man in the women's restroom.

OK. I'll leave God out. We should love them as we love ourselves and vice versa.

It speaks to the heart of what you are saying. You are arguing that one group is not deserving of the same rights of others, that they are not as deserving as others, that they are not as human as others. I simply pointed out a point in the past (one I thought may have special resonance with you) to show what way that thinking would lead, and how especially evil that way of thought is.

If you feel that my post asked a stupid question, then I truly pity you, for you have no feeling for your fellow humans.
