Not to mention that even though the Pinto was a bad design, overall it got you where you wanted to go. The same can't be said for religion.

Silly. This is like saying that when a doctor performs an unnecessary surgery and kills someone, that medicine kills people and it should be abolished. This guy should be tried for murder.

What I'm saying is, humanity will never be rid of religion and the fight against it is never ending. To continue fighting against it is futile in the extreme. It cannot be stopped, BUT, as we've seen time and time again, it can be steered to the benefit of humans or it's detriment.

When I saw the title I thought it's going to be about that boy that was bullied by everybody in catholic school
Well what do you expect from people that cling to book (Bible) that tells them world is flat, satyrs are real and of course magic tricks apparently prove God's existence. I mean just imagine what abhorrent things schools like that teach kids.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

For better or worse. I object to this phrasing. Religion doesn't build anything. All it does is take credit for natural human creative instincts, at best it provides a (sufficient, but by no means necessary) backdrop against which those drives take shape, but to credit religion for the works that result, when in fact it's just a base parasite, is wildly inaccurate. All the good that religion does, does not require religion. And yet a vast majority of the bad that religion does, is spurred on exclusively or in large part by religion. Think about that. There are many examples of why religion kills but I have the feeling we don't hear about the most of them. Religion shouldn't be forbidden. It just shouldn't be taken that seriously. Which seems counterproductive, perhaps, because the books tell you to take it more seriously than anything.

Religion is like a tree, it needs tending and regular pruning to keep it from crowding out the other trees and over crowding itself with crossing branches. If you let an orchard go feral, it will produce crap fruit.
