Life
is order. And evolution is the increase of DNA order/complexity over time. It's a 5d process, centropic over time.
A completely biological reason why living thing "want" to survive is because most the things that will kill them, hurt....a lot. DNA wants the vessel to not self-destruct long enough to pass structure/function/order forwards through time as procreation.
