Ask a black girl on Social sercurity and welfare.

Ask a black girl on Social sercurity and welfare.
So felt this needed to be made because I'm rather weary of the classist, racist, mysogynoir comments that have been made about the working and non-working poor of the United States. I believe some corrections and handing out of information is in order.

How much money are you paid per month?

Apart from blindness do you have any other disabilities?

Are there jobs you can still apply for?

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Is the money you receive each month enough to live on?

I get exactly 753 dollars a month.

I have asthma, anxiety with panic attacks, and a spastic neurological disorder (they're still testing, not sure what's happening),

I am qualified for most clerical work, filing, taking dictation, fetching coffee blah blah

Beyond the money is there anything else?

I'm from the uk and I don't really follow how social security and welfare work in America.
I don't even know everything about how it works in the uk.

If you didn't live with your parents would you be given housing? Are you given free medical care? Or just anything else in general?

I'm given bare bones medical care, and Medicaid/Medicare can decide when something isn't medically necessary even if it totally is. For the moment I'm more well fed than usual but I have subsisted of 89-100$ in ebt. Subsidized housing has a 5 year waiting list. So when I had my place I lived in student housing.

I've just looked up what ebt is. So you get up to 100 on this electronic benefit transfare is that per month? And that's seperate from the other money?

Are you still waiting for housing? I don't understand why you used to live in student housing now you don't.

Well me not living in student housing anymore is simply a compilation of personal issues. First my apartment got broken into, so I was with mom, but as soon as I went to stay with her, daddy had his heart attack. So they got back together, and daddy was on medical leave and mom needed to find a new job when we moved back to my hometown. So in short yes I'm still waiting for housing. And yes the ebt is separate from social security.

Well I'm guessing overall then you'd say the combined ebt, the money and housing and medical care it all is enough to live off?

How is your dad now?

Did you have anxiety attacks before the break in?
