I'm quite sure 4chan isn't a fun place to be, I have a friend who'd check there when he was really bored, there are tons of fucked up shit and stupidity there. I've never visited it myself though, but I'd recommend reddit, it's great.

Reddit has its own form of shittiness, depending on which subreddits you frequent, but it tends to be less of a circle jerk than 4chan.
I've always seen 4chan as kind of a bandwagon that people accidentally fall into when they're bored, rather than something that they actively seek out in order to form their own individual opinions about things.  You don't go to 4chan to speak your mind and engage in discussion.  You go to 4chan to learn how to speak 4chan's language.  Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting experience, and definitely worth checking out if you want to learn the nuances of this particular part of internet subculture, but just don't go in expecting to learn much else of value.
If we came from dust, then why is there still dust?

Secondly, 4chan is kinda cancerous in my opinion. Especially the /b/ board
